Durham, CA is a charming small unincorporated town nestled in the agricultural heartland of northern California, just South of Chico. Durham’s rich agricultural history dates to the late 1800s. Settled by pioneers who recognized the fertile soil and abundant water supply. Durham is now known to have some of the most fertile soil in the world. This community is filled with many small and large family-owned farms and orchards, some having been passed down for generations. Durham produces a variety of crops; almonds being predominate. Like in many areas of California, there is a growing growing number of small to medium sized vineyards, with most wineries offering public tastings. With its picturesque orchards, friendly locals, slower pace of life, and with Chico only 7 miles to the North, this area can be very attractive.
